T-CAIREM • 2027 Call for Faculty Supervisors: Summer Research Program

This form is intended for faculty members and researchers at any Canadian partner universities or institutions in the T-CAIREM Network who have summer research positions available for post-secondary students in 2027.

PLEASE NOTE:

• This year, 30 summer research positions are available to undergraduates and students in professional degree programs (e.g., medicine) to work on AI in health projects under faculty supervision.

• Students MUST be enrolled in a Canadian university or research institution in the T-CAIREM Network and legally entitled to work in Canada.

• Student research projects can include developing new algorithms, applying existing algorithms to new health problems (at the basic, clinical, or population levels), research into AI ethics, governance, policy, patient engagement, implementation science, or other areas.

• Students will be required to work full-time (35 hours per week) for a minimum of 10 weeks between May 3 and September 3, 2027, and attend weekly seminars, a midterm check-in, and a mini-conference.

• Students will receive a minimum stipend of $7,200 for the 10-week program. T-CAIREM will provide the supervisor’s institution with $3,600, and the supervisor must provide at least $3,600.

• Supervisors who contribute a dataset to T-CAIREM's Health Data Nexus will get the full student stipend ($7,200) covered by T-CAIREM. The student must use this dataset for their project. [https://healthdatanexus.ai]

• Faculty supervisors affiliated with T-CAIREM Network partner organizations must supervise U of T students. A U of T faculty member may supervise U of T and non-U of T students.
